Essential Oil Recipes for Stress and Relaxation

Been feeling a little tense lately? Overwhelmed with busyness? Experiencing aches and pains, stomach upsets and fuzzy thinking? Then perhaps your body is trying to tell you something! It’s time to listen to the signals and take a moment to relax.

Essential oils contain chemical properties that can impact the way we are feeling. For example, ethers found in some essential oils are anti-depressant, anti-spasmodic and sedative, while sesquiterpenes are calming and anti-inflammatory.

Choose from the recipes below depending on your needs. If you have kidney disease, epilepsy, high blood pressure, skin sensitivity or are pregnant please check for any precautions. ANXIETY Bergamot, Chamomile, Cary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Mandarin, Marjoram, Sandalwood.

BURNOUT: Jasmine, Lavender

DEPRESSION: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Chamomile, Frankincense, Rose Geranium, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Mandarin, Peppermint, Rosemary.

MENTAL STRESS: Cedarwood, Chamomile, Rosemary

NEGATIVE THOUGHTS: Orange, Peppermint

NERVOUS EXHAUSTION: Grapefruit, Lavender, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang

NERVOUS HEADACHE: Grapefruit, Lavender, Marjoram

OBSESSIVENESS: Frankincense, Sandalwood

PANIC: Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang

MENTAL SLUGGISHNESS: Lemon, Grapefruit

SUGGESTED RECIPES THAT YOU MAY FIND EFFECTIVE -

Obsessive over thinking:
4 drops Sandalwood
2 drops Vetiver

Over-preoccupied with detail:
3 drops Frankincense
2 drops Vetiver

Over-analytical and detached:
3 drops Rose Geranium
2 drops Sandalwood
1 drop Patchouli

Nervous and agitated:
3 drops Lavender
2 drops Neroli
1 drop Bergamot

Tense and exhausted:
3 drops Clary Sage
2 drops Cypress
1 drop Lavender

Restless and Distracted:
3 drops Frankincence
2 drops Geranium

Impatient and Intolerant:
3 drops Bergamot
2 drops Lavender
1 drop Peppermint

Fatigue:
2 drops Spearmint
2 drops Pine
2 drops Ginger
